Instrumental Intro Verse 1 The home I knew is gone, it’s one you’ll never know So much I cherished seems broken beyond repair Now I’m torn in between: Should we stay or (should we) go? The land we made our home, slips deeper on into despair Instrumental Break Verse 2 We’ve been patient, and we’ve hoped For better days to come What we’ve prayed for, waited up for Seems like a distant dream Now we know that, all we need Is only found in You Help us hold on, as we look For how You will redeem Chorus Elevation x3 Lift us up out of the mire Elevation x3 We know You’re here to set our souls on fire We know You’re here to set our souls on fire x4 Verse 3 Darkness shrouds our, weary land And it smothers while it takes We’re so tired, oh so tired As we try to stay awake Help us Lord, oh, this our cry Our bodies start to shake Hanging on now, for dear life A bruised reed you won’t break Repeat Chorus

about

Just over 2 years following the sprawling 3-part 'Liminal Space' EP, Dr. J returns with brand new music, drawing upon similar influences which helped shape tracks like 'Embers' to showcase cinematic, liquid drum and bass.

Written in Switzerland while visiting family, Elevation was crafted from an idea that was almost sketched out on my in-laws' piano. However, I was reminded not to wake the (then) baby with my playing, so fatefully, I headed up to the attic to start sketching on my laptop and what you're listening to now is the result. Built around a simple piano hook, it blossomed into the swirling, sometimes raging d&b roller before you.

Lyrically, it's a lament, reflecting on the decline experienced personally and corporately for those living in the UK, life choices and the impact they've had on his loved-ones. Elevation forms a heartfelt prayer for intervention in the face of challenges wrought in a place that has become more and mroe unfamiliar and un-familial over time, and as I've reflected on the impact that has had on me and my family.

This maxi single features a teaser prelude, the full length version, stripped back, instrumental and a radio edit. Elevation is the first of 3 jungle/d&b singles dropping here exclusively a week ahead of streaming services.
